WhatTheStadium will tell you where a stadium is and what its original name is/was.
It's both a reverse-lookup tool, to find where a venue is, and its proper name, from its meaningless, impermanent, naming-rights sponsored name; but it will also search by the old name if you just want to find out what they've done to your favourite venue.
(Note that, at least while we're in MVP soft-launch mode, WhatTheStadium only searches stadia in the Australia/NZ region)
Well, we don't at the moment, but we'd be quite happy to. This site thinks advertising is just fine; but renaming things which have long-established real names, is a stupid, annoying and detrimental practice which will, in the long run, hurt advertising far more than it hurts us.
If not stopped, you''ll soon have to say "Pass me the Westpac", instead of "Pass me the salt", before eventually being forced to communicate solely in brands.
